Let me first start off with a disclaimer. I am a Proud Star Trek fan. My first memories are of watching Original Series re-runs with my Uncle and playing with models of the Enterprise and Klingon ships. I have watched every incarnation of the Star Trek universe, even if I do not like the "Kelvin Timeline" movies I did watch them in an attempt to give them a chance. They have their moments, but I'm still a fan of "Prime Universe". That being said, certain world current events always take me back to some episode or movie in the Star Trek Universe. The last Four years under the trump administration keeps bringing me back to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the Dominion War.

In the Deep Space Nine series, essentially an "anti-federation" known as the Dominion used tools of misinformation, deception, and even (with use of shape-shifting spies) replaced predominate high ranking officials to further dis-stabilize the Federation and it's relationship with their allies. The Dominion war looked bleak. There were many episodes where it felt like the Dominion would defeat the Federation. But in the end, The Federation restored stability, strengthened it's previous alliances, and forged new alliances with once enemies of the Federation. Together this alliance drove back the Dominion leading to the Cardassian people (who joined the Dominion) to revolt and resist the oppressive Dominion.

I relate the Dominion to the trump administration, as the same tactics of misinformation, deception, lies, and in some cases replacement of high rank officials, lead to the disstablization of the United States. He damaged relations with our Allies around the world, made the US weaker, just like what the Dominion did to the Federation, I see the Republican Party as the Cardassians, willing to turn a blind eye and join forces with this destructive force. The Dominion lost the war when the Cardassians turned their favor to the Federation Alliance forces, like what some Republicans did in this election. And now that Biden has won the election, we see trump being just as resistant to surrender as the Dominion in spite of the loss of the war. Finally the Dominion leader was convinced to stand down as I hope trump will sooner then later but it's not in his nature. However, in True Federation style, the Federation formed a peace treaty with the Cardassians and Dominion.

This is what we have to do now. We must embody the ideals of the Federation and make peace with the Republicans and start the process of rebuilding, strengthening the ties with our old allies and forging new alliances with our former "enemies". My Federation "training" has server me well, I fought the trump agenda where, when, and how I could, "For the Needs of the Many outweigh the Needs of the One or the Few", and now that the "war" is over, it's time to make peace and restore stability once again.
